Sonja has been a Pierce County small business owner for most of the past ten years. She built and operated those businesses on a firm foundation of honesty, integrity, and the belief that one client treated fairly is the best type of witness in any market. She brings that same dedication to her relationships with clients in the Mortgage Lending industry. Her diverse professional background gives Sonja the ability to relate to clients from all walks of life.
Sonja shares Sound Mortgage’s high ethical standards and mission to build relationships that will serve the individual needs of each unique client. Working hard on behalf of each client, she brings over 30 years of experience, knowledge and expertise that Sound Mortgage has to offer to each individually designed financial solution. The team at the Tacoma Branch has a vast range of experience originating all types of loans, including VA, FHA, USDA, Conforming, and Jumbo.
Sonja is involved in charity work supporting transitional housing and aid to families who are victims of homelessness and domestic abuse. She is dedicated to agencies that work to provide a “hand up”, not a “handout”. Working through her “Hand up Network” she supplies essential needs to families through Exodus Housing.
She was born, raised and attended college in Southern Idaho. She has lived and raised her family in Washington since 1976. When not working on behalf of her Mortgage clients, Sonja enjoys camping, hiking with friends and family and motorcycle touring with her husband of 37 years.

As a Licensed Mortgage Loan Originator in Washington State, Sonja has successfully passed both the SAFE National component test and the Washington State component test. In accordance with the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing (SAFE) Act of 2008, Sonja has completed additional Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry requirements including fingerprinting, successfully passing a criminal background check, and certification with the Washington State Department of Financial Institutions. Sonja additionally participates in continuing education to remain current with changing legislation and lending guidelines.
